Is Caller ID necessary?

I am on Starhub. Have 4 lines with them.

I did not subscribe to caller id for 3 of the plan. However, I notice that I can still see the number of incoming call being displayed on my iPhone and nokia phone. Not that I am complaining, but just want to check if caller id still necessary for phone number to be displayed? I am asking because I am paying $5 every month for the caller id on my main line. If not necessary, I can just cancel and save $60 every year.

Please take note that the telco gives you free for 3 to 6 months then start to charge quietly until you ask to cancel. It happened to me before.

I thought so too. But it has been more than 2 years since I got the line. The caller ID is always there and was never charged since I never subscribe to it. For my recent line, I was asked whether I want to subscribe and there is no free caller ID. I specifically said I didn't want to. But still can see caller number.

Nope. But I'm a hub club member though. Can't be free right? Else why would they ask whether I want to subscribe or not.

What plans are you on ? I remember the older plan that came with no data bundle has included call id in the subscription already.

I'm on smartsurf - the cheapest plan.

Anyone here not subscribing to caller id? Am I the only one? Hmmm...
