I try on my scb account, generate a QR code for paynow since my paynow is tied to SCB.
Then I use that QR code to pay via DBS, the hp number show up.
Is there anyway to avoid showing hp number? Just show the nickname?
I'm just wondering if this option is available.

believe mobile number will still show, this is to ensure that the sender can double confirm the recipient's number is correct before submitting. Onus is on sender to ensure accuracy of submission

too bad then. Wonder if there is any anonymous way with unique nick for doing transfer as things like carousell is better without letting others know your number. thanks anyway.

(Thinking aloud...) Is it possible to unlink your mobile number from PayNow and just use your NRIC? (Maybe that's worse?)

I suppose you could get a "burner" mobile phone number. I don't mean that literally (nothing illegal), but you can keep a prepaid SIM number active for just a few dollars a year.

like business line. That's also the alternative I thought of though selling on carousell ain't exactly a consistent income thing so well...
Thanks for suggestion.

I think the reason they need to show a number is like why there is a need to have a unique identifier like account number / UEN.

if not potential money laundering

Phone number is unique, name isnt. Carousell has its own payment wallet.

unique identifier is fine if only gov and bank can see.
Not for the ones doing the transaction, these people need only know they are sending and receiving from and to the right person, with another unique identifier like a nickname.

last time tech not advance. Now we have tools to make things unique without the need to expose yourself, like blockchain tech.

Sorry to dig up this thread.

Does this Fullstacksys generator still work?

I just tried it to convert my mobile number to QR Code but it isn't accepted by the bank apps.

Is this for a legitimate use case? It is right that the HP number shows up along with the nickname to ensure you are going to paynow to the right party. If you do not want your mobile number to appear, you may want to consider getting a corporate account with a UEN.
