Anyone with experience with a chromebook?

Currently I have a win 8.1, 14" ultrabook
was looking at the chromebook mainly due to the form factor

I understand there are many limitations,

what I use mainly are
ms office for report writing,
watching videos usually in mkv. format
listening to songs
surfing the net, check emails

more concerned on the support for office docs and media downloads (be it ddl or torrent)
whether is the chromebook support mature enough, any advise?

If you using MS office, ChromeBook will not be your choice as it cannot run MS office.

Might as well get the Asus T100 $599 with 32GB emmc and 500gb harddrive...It have the bay-trail atom in it...Best thing it can be detectable, though the 500gb is in the dock..so Micro SD card can put into the tablet :)~ Window 8.1 > Linux on Chromebook > ChromOS

yea think I can consider these 2 options

can tether to my tablet, though from experience it tends to lag, disconnect at times
Consider Surface RT. Will meet your needs better than chromebook.

heard surface rt can only run windows store apps

I seen some chromebook going for 250, only thing is compatibility
win 8 is priced just a little higher:s12:

Don't think of Chromebooks as a laptop - think of it as a all-in-one web terminal.

If what you need is a all-in-one web terminal, get a Chromebook. The main advantage is you don't have to worry about antivirus and updating software.

If you want more, don't.

You can use it as a simple laptop actually. For simple usage like web surfing, watching shows, office, etc.
