Is my mobo dead?

Tried to turn on PC.
Was working fine the previous day.

• No BIOS/POST screen. Empty screen. No text.
• Only continuous beep with no rhythm. Only beep-beep-beep at constant interval.
• PSU turns on.
• PSU fan turns on.
• Casing fan turns on.
• CPU fan turns on.

What I have tried:

• Disconnect and reconnect PSU power connector to CPU and motherboard twice.
• Took out RAM sticks, used eraser on gold pins, swapped both stick around 3 to 4 times.
• Disconnected all SATA drives.
• Disconnected front panel USB header and audio. Tried once.

All didn't help. Still the same, press power button, only hear beep beep beep from PC speaker with no display on screen. No
POST or memory check.
PSU seems to turn on fine based on all the fans running.

H61 Motherboard used since 2014.

Really spoiled already?
Anything else I should try?

Doesn't stop. Just 1 beep every second. No short or long beeps.

As someone mentioned below, you can test with one stick at a time. Should be memory error.

If keep on beep means memory or gpu failure
If no gpu means ur onboard gpu fail means either ur mobo die or ur cpu die.

Though I would say likely your ram slot problem

how many beeps?

Just remember the number of beeps can signal the type of failure/error. However, I counted this morning and it beeped more than a 100 times, before I gave up and powered it off. Tried this twice.

So this continuous beeping does not correspond to any listed problem according to the motherboard manual. I think 12 short beeps means RAM problem for AMI BIOS. But it just keeps on beeping as long as it stays powered on.

Can't narrow it down to a specific problem.

I also tried the followings this morning:

• removing all RAM stick (both RAM slots empty, no RAM installed): continuous beeping
• Inserting only 1 RAM stick into each slot separately: continuous beeping
• Checking that the spinning CPU cooling fan is not in contact or touching the power wires around it.
• Disconnecting and reconnecting the motherboard and CPU power connector.

Nothing is helping. Fans are all running. But just no BIO/POST, just blank screen and beeping from PC speaker.

How to tell if it's motherboard failure or processor failure? Don't have a spare confirmed working motherboard to test the processor.

Why not bring to SLS to seek help from the shop and replace the spoil component.

Remove CMOS battery and try again after 1min ( off PSU)

and remove your GPU if any, and use ur CPU only

clean the RAM sticks and try again

What Mbo?

is it a gigabyte board?

Try forcing a Bios recovery if it's a gigabyte board ( gigabyte's board known to have bios corruption issues)


Method #1:
1. Shut your PC down (if you're reading this guide, than your PC isn't working anyways)
2. Hold the power button until the PC starts and shuts down again
3. Press the power button again, your backup BIOS should kick in now and should re-flash the main BIOS if there's anything wrong with it.

Method #2:
1. Shut your PC down
2. Hold the power AND the reset button for about 10 sec, than release.
3. Backup BIOS should kick in anytime soon now.

Method #3:

1. Short out pins 1 and 6 on the main BIOS chip (pin #1 should be marked with a red dot or whatever)
2. press the power on button
3. Remove the ghetto-like jumper you're holding between pins 1 and 6 as soon as you hear a beep.
4. Backup BIOS should kick in again and everything will (hopefully) be fine.

My case, power supply not sending power good signal to board. Replace power supply fixes the issue.
