Agree with you old system 20$ should be enough. However, if possible don't want to have a time bomb in my house that might burn, which is what I mean by stable.

Somemore, I am curious what psu people will buy for their old system

You should list down the type of old system. Because 10 yrs also old, 20 yrs also old. How old is consider old to you.

Take a look if this suite you > https://www.techdeals.com.sg/produc...c2qs3fuAv3XmXmRFRmdmD8omNqUpvmxi6J0-nrPbZttn0

Please do not get this PSU, is very bad and can blow.
Get at least the FSP HDV 550W around $5X with 3 years warranty.
PSU try not to cheap out as if it blows it will affect your PC especially a old one.
Yeah, that what I scare.

Will just buy from taobao.

Can try Delta, FSP and Great wall. All 3 brands make server PSUs for different price range.

This price point mostly risk choice i tell you in singapore hardly you see got news about desktops explode kill peoples or burn down house. Die one mostly is use water heater kena electshock or water storage overload never off switch explode. You got see government advice peoples buy good psu anot? No right mostly advice is water heater water storage use 20A switch. Your house don't store many flammable item become fire hazards

But still is very dangerous to but psu that is cheap and below bronze rating especially china cheap psu mostly are 伪标 fake rate fake wattage this is the only scary part.

And enjoy the hassle of putting out the fire? How about the damage caused by the psu?

Furthermore the upfront savings is not much. Fire extinguisher + that cheap psu almost 50 bucks. U pay a little more(at most 10 bucks) for the fsp and peace of mind.

Guess you never seen blown PSU before.
Maybe you should see one than realize the aftermath.
Yeah, that what I scare.
This icute brand psu has been around since my teenage time and used to be my favourite psu without any issue.
Don't worry about this brand, and i have encounter blown psu, just a bit of spark at the rear of psu.

Why don't you try getting a second hand one? At least you may be able to find something that may be below 50 bucks and still a reasonably decent model. There is no cheap and good PSU to be clear. There is no getting around the fact that there will be severe compromise in terms of quality, though I think for low power draw, you may be able to get away with it.
