Asus GTX1660 TUF 3 (Triple Fan) 6GB GDDR5

Corsair Carbide Clear 600C Inverse

I planning upgrade my old machine to this spec above.

Not sure if the GPU GTX1660 at $469 is outdated and with that price i can go for a better one. Any suggestion?

Budget?

What's your monitor resolution and refresh rate?

And what's your current SSD capacity?

Need Wifi & Bluetooth?

Any preference for PC colour theme? Like RGB??

2.4k and below.

Current Samsung (forget model) 512GB SSD. Will update SSD to M.2 NVME at later stage..

No need wifi and bluetooth.

S2715H -

Optimal resolution:
1920 x 1080 at 60 Hz

Contrast Ratio:
1000:1 (typical)
8 Million:1 (Max) (Dynamic Contrast Ratio)

Response Time:
6 ms (gray to gray)

Any preference for PC colour theme? Like RGB??
Not required. Just like business PC, black colour with power and hdd LED will do.

Okey, monitor update will be done when we have spare $$. This monitor 2 year old only..

Should I go for

Asus RTX2060 TUF Gaming $579

or stick with Asus GTX1660 TUF 3 (Triple Fan) 6GB GDDR5

unless you have immediate plans to upgrade monitor, the 1660 is pretty sufficient for the games specified

Thankfully your budget is enough for an overkill rig, plus a brand new high end spec monitor. :D

CPU+MB: AMD Ryzen 5 3600 + MSI B450 Tomahawk MAX @ $470 (Fuwell)
Latest AMD Ryzen 3000 series has caught up neck in neck with Intel in most metrics yet being much more affordable.
RAM: Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4-2933 CL16 16GB Dual Channel Kit [Black] (Ryzen Compatible) @ $117 (Fuwell)
GPU: Zotac RTX 2070 Super 8GB GDDR6 AMP Extreme @ $799
One of the better performing, 3 fans, subtle-looking, low noise, great temp non-reference RTX 2070 Super graphics card.
Backed by 5 years long warranty too.
https://www.techpowerup.com/review/zotac-geforce-rtx-2070-super-amp-extreme/31.html

PSU: Seasonic FOCUS PLUS Gold 750W [80 Plus Gold] @ $164
Fully modular and backed by 10 years long warranty for a fraction of much pricier Corsair PSUs.
CASE: Corsair Carbide Clear 600C [Black] @ $235
OS: Microsoft Windows 10 Pro 64-bit Product Key @ $3 (Taobao)

GRAND TOTAL: $1743*^°"

Recommended:
DSP: PRISM+ F270i PRO 27" QHD 16:9 Flat 144Hz FreeSync [AHVA] @ $429
DSP: PRISM+ P270 27" 4K 16:9 Flat 60-75Hz FreeSync [AHVA] @ $439
Promotion ends today on both Lazada and PRISM website.

Prices from Lazada unless indicated, exclude shipping fees.

*after Lazada DBS/POSB $10 off min $80 spending Bank coupon [TBA every Thursday]
^after Lazada DBS/POSB $30 off min $300 spending Bank coupon [TBA every Thursday]
°after Lazada SAFRAPERKS 8% discount max $5 Cart promo code [Ends 31/08/19]

And you can expect 40-60 fps on 4K or 70-100 fps on QHD on High settings.

That's a big budget, too big for that monitor. Advise to change your monitor.

2.4k is a big budget.

Not sure if the parts are chosen on preference or you welcome other options, but i think you can re-allocate your budget and fit in a good monitor. I'm just looking at the prices from 1 source for pricing example.

MB + Processor
If you are looking at Asus Z390 series MB + i7-8700 Gen processor ($895), i suggest you consider looking at MSI Z390 series MB +i7-9700K ($860) or for a cheaper option, Asus Prime X470-Pro + Ryzen7 3700X ($753).

RAM
Corsair Vengeance LPX 3200 CL16 16GB($141) <- Good enough

GPU
Asus RTX2060 TUF Gaming($542) or Zotac Gaming RTX2060($480)

PSU
Corsair HX850i 80+ Platinum Modular ($278)

You will roughly have around $500+ to $600+ left to play around for casing and monitor.

Agreed. Shared pc in the past with bro too didn't like it. Everytime he's using at I can't use. The feeling really sxxx lol. Can only watch him use. That was in the past. Now have my personal gaming pc. Can use anytime anyday I want.

Anyway 2.4k is a huge budget. If only going build one pc. Can easily build a 1440p 144hz gaming pc that includes a good monitor that is capable of 144hz/1440p and rig already. Maybe even a ultra wide monitor.

For your usage 1k build good enough already.

I think if go for amd can build for 2 pc. At the price point now

If space is not an issue I guess. Looking at the titles his bro is playing, doesn't seem very demanding so splitting the budget for 2 pc should be okay.

Ryzen 3600 on AM4 platform will allow for easy CPU swap/upgrade (maybe a 2nd second 3700x/3800x/3900x or newer CPU in future).

850W PSU is super overkill, get a 750W Gold (already overkill) and use the extra money saved for other components especially the GFX with preferably 8GB of memory.
