Hi all!

Will be going Japan end of this year...2 adults / 3 children youngest is aged 9 / and 1 elderly. Came up with an itinerary and would appreciate if anyone can share their inputs?

Day 1 : Osaka Castle / Shinsaibashi / Dotonbori

Day 2 : Universal Studios

Day 3 : Todaiji Temple / Nara Deer Park / move to Kyoto Hotel (45mins) /
Kawaramachi shopping?

Day 4 : Fushinami Inari / Kiyomizu Dera / Gion / Yakasa Shrine? /
Kawaramachi shopping street if not done the day before

Day 5 : Kinkaku-ji / Sagano Romantic Train / Arashimaya Bamboo Grove /
travel to Takayama

Day 6 : Visit to Gassho Village. Explore Takayama town

Day 7 : Takayama / Shin Hotaka Ropeway / travel to Tokyo hotel

Day 8 : Tokyo Disneyland

Day 9 : Mount Fuji day tour

Day 10 : F&E includes Ramen Museum / Fish Market / final shoppings

Day 11 : F&E includes Ramen Museum / Fish Market / final shoppings

Am I being too ambitious here?

I'm going (with my partner and child age 16) to Japan Dec 2018 as well. Slightly different from you that I'm going for Kyoto first (2 day), and 4 days will be at Osaka. I'm not going Tokyo though, so can't give my input on it. Sharing my itinerary to you for comparison though.

Kyoto 2 Day - Staying around Kyoto Station:
Kyoto Tower
Kinkuku-ji Temple
Fushimi-Inari Taisha Shrine
Gion
Arashiyama Bamboo Groove
Daimuru Department Store
Ippodo

Osaka 4 Day:
Osaka Cestle
Umeda Sky Building
Shinsaibashi Shopping
Den Den Town (Electronic)
Namba Park
Dotonburi Nightstreet

4 days in osaka seems a bit long for the places u have listed. Shinsaibashi, Dotonburi, den den town are all around Namba area, so that can be visited all in a day, probably less. no plans for aquarium and USJ?

Itinerary quite packed with some change of hotels (need to carry luggages) in cold weather. Going to be tough for the elderly.

Suggest Kyoto 4 days and Osaka 2 days instead considering the places you are visiting cause:

Osaka castle: Half a day; Can do Umeda area and sky building on the same day

The rest are around the same area and can be done in 1 day

No plan for USJ as they not interested. If got 'free time', may visit though.

Aquarium worth visiting? I saw there's quite a few out there. But don't know which is worth going. Osaka itinerary not really 'fix' yet. Checking/looking here and there to see where else can include in.
