Has anyone been to Fukui? Is there alot to do there? I'm torn between 2 scenarios:
1) Driving direct to Fukui from Gifu to spend 3D2N there
2) Drive further north to Toyama and swing by Kanazawa before going to Fukui for 2D1N
I went to Tsuruga via public transport during foliage season. 3D2N. The full day I had was spent at Mitaka Goko and the Michi no Eki Wakasa Mihama Hamabiyori. Both locations were serviced by the same loop bus. Visited popular local eats and some of the attractions in Tsuruga.

That's quite far away from Fukui.

Ah you meant Fukui station area, rather than Fukui Prefecture. The above mentioned is within Fukui Prefecture. Not familiar with that area.

Few things come to mind: Fukui Dinosaur Museum, Tojinbo, and Echizen Ono Castle. And Echizen crab. 😆

Yah was planning to go to the dinosaur museum, the knife village and visit the fish market.
Thought a full day there would suffice, not sure if there is anything else to do.
You did give me some ideas but I’m still not sure it warrants staying another additional day in the prefecture.

For Day 5 since you are driving, you can do noboribetsu in the day and drive to Lake Toya to stay for the night. In summer there's nightly fireworks at Lake Toya it's one of the highlights.

Dear all

intend to spend about at least 10 days in Hokkaido, with final 3 nights in Sapporo town.

For the 1st 7 days, i am planning to cover the usual central Hokkaido areas.

Beyond Central, I am also contemplating to either drive to Hakodate (3 hrs+ complicated drive south from Sapporo) or Wakkanai (most northern city, 4hrs+ easy drive north from Sapporo).

Any suggestion if i should travel south or north?

OR should i skip both Hakodate and Wakkanai due to the long drives?
And instead venture into western fringes of East Hokkaido i.e., Tokachi (Obihiro) and the Akan-Mashu area?

Any comment/ suggestion is welcome.

TIA

When you going? depend on season.
Hakodate is famous for Goryōkaku, no flower season not worth going. And Mt. Hakodate
Lake Toya highly recommend but good hotel is expensive, so 1 night enough.
Otaru good for buying food and souvenir.
