Could I check on the interests for this trip, i.e. shopping, sightseeing etc. That'll help in suggestions!

Most people here won't give you any suggestions because we experience this too many times liao:

> How about go Disneyland?
> No I don't like theme parks

> Then why not go onsen and relax
> No I don't like to be naked in front of other people

> Suggest to go odaiba visit Megaweb, lots of toyota cars to ogle and test drive
> But I don't drive and I got no interest in cars

> Must try this super nice restaurant
> No ... i don't like ramen

:)

So do go through japan guide and the links that other people have posted, cos only you yourself will know what is interesting (or not). Then you craft a general itinerary (like day 1 go where, day 2 go where, etc) and make a thread.

THEN all the japanese masters like evilerniex and dmitri-can can give you more constructive tweaks and advice related to transport, etc.

I frequently see people mentioning Mt Fuji on their itinerary, but don't explain what do they mean about this.

Does it mean:
- Climbing up to Mt Fuji's summit? (only available in summer)
- Taking bus to Mt Fuji's 5th station? (about halfway up Mt Fuji, which is the highest point a bus can get up to, but even so, it is depending on weather conditions)
- Going to 1 of the themed attractions at the base of Mt Fuji? (Grinpa amusement park? Snow Town Yeti?)
- Going to Kawaguchi-ko and see a view of Mt Fuji?
- Going to 1 of the Fuji Five lakes for a view of Mt Fuji?

My advice is to take bus from Tokyo's shinjuku to Lake Kawaguchi (Kawaguchi-ko), see a view of Mt Fuji from across the lake there, and stay 1 night at a hotspring ryokan at Lake Kawaguchi before returning back to Tokyo.
