hey guys,

has anyone experienced carry-on baggage issues? What if my carry-on is below the given weight of 7kg but exceeds the dimensions? Any form of help here would be appreciated, thanks!

You have to check it in and pay for check-in baggage (allowance).

If your bag don't meet the overhead compartment dimensions requirements, where are you going to put your bag on board? It won't be able to fit under the seat either.

jetstar website, there is a diagram with the dimensions to tell you ...
if your dimension is over, guess u cant put on the overhead compartment
the crew have the right not to let u put your things inside, if exceed the limit

if u checked in 15kg at the airport counter, price is about 50sgd one way

thanks for the replies everyone!

The thing is my backpack exceeded a very slight amount after squeezing and making sure everything fit. do you think its possible to bring it as a carry on without having to pay so much just for that slight bit? Cheers!

Learn to pack light. Things can be bought when you arrive.

His issue is with dimensions / size, not weight. Duh.

Is the same analogy ... i know what he means, so i gave the analogy
anyway if your handcarry dimension exceed, dont think they would let him handcarry. instead they would ask u pay 50sgd to checked in ...

Ur dimension exceed what u r supposed to bring
vs
ur weight exceed what u r supposed to bring ...

your analogy wins lah.

you see a bag, you can tell the weight? obviously you see a bag, you can see/tell/gauge the dimensions. you can do the same for guessing/gauging the weight just by looking at it?

My backpack 60cm because of internal frame just nice fit the overhead compartment. Any longer will protrude out then the compartment cannot close already.

Depend on the counter staff. Heng suay 50/50 one.
I had one flight with Jetstar without checkin they never check.
Other flight they weight my backpack 10kg but let me carry on, because I had check in 20kg but I don't want use.

Even you escape the check-in counter staff & etc, I have seen before that they station themselves at the boarding gate and catch.

As I was walking towards the plane via the bridge, you will realized that there are several luggage waiting to be check-in.

So really depend on luck lah.
