MULTIMEDIA JOURNALIST
(BASED AT DOVER CAMPUS)
Role Objective
Reporting to the Director of Communications and Marketing, the Multimedia Journalist will support storytelling in the College by generating video and photographs that express the vibrancy of the student experience. Working closely with the students and staff to document their experience at the College, the Multimedia Journalist, together with other members of the communications team, will provide multimedia content for the various channels we use to communicate with our internal and external communities.
Job Responsibilities:
Storytelling
Shoot and edit video and photographs in line with College messaging goals
Video and photograph College events, as appropriate
Provide photographs that can support communications efforts, particularly advertising campaigns and web presence
Repurpose video and photographs for various online channels, including the College website, social media sites, youtube etc
Work with the Director of Communications and Marketing to plan and implement larger video projects, eg. redesign of the College website
Identify opportunities for co-operation with existing photography and videography activities at the College
Liaise with key staff members who can contribute to storytelling in the college.
Training
Mentor students who are producing video and photographs that reflect their learning and experience at the College
Be a member of the communications team that mentors student volunteers and interns
Provide ad hoc training for staff and students in taking video and photographs for specific purposes
Asset Management
Upload video and photographs to the College’s asset management system
Manage the content of the asset management system, including tagging and archiving all content to ensure ease of retrieval
Archiving
Identify existing video and photographic materials and systematically archive them
Contribute to a group that is documenting the history of the College
Job Requirements:
Outstanding videography and photography skills
Keen sense of the elements of a story and how to communicate stories in various voices
Ability to manage a project from planning through implementation and reflection
Well-developed self-starting and self-management skills
Strong relationship-building skills
Excellent organizational skills
Ability to engage students in the task of storytelling
