JQuery UI and JQuery Mobile

When to use each?

JQuery UI is for web app widgets. But I believe it is for traditional desktop web app.

JQuery Mobile is for mobile devices with touch interface and responsive web design for different orientation and screen sizes.

However, nowadays most web sites are expected to be responsive as they might be loaded in a mobile browser. So use JQuery Mobile or JQuery UI?

depends on what you want. I believe JQuery UI was the first of the two. And then came JQuery Mobile, specially for mobile devices.
