JR highway buses HACK --- help needed

Asking the Japan JR otaku here......

Used to travel a lot with JR pass 2005-2010 and an important hack is to use the JR pass to take free JR highway buses to save hotel cost.....

Since 2013, JR pass is no longer applicable to JR highway buses (although JR local buses are still free)

Wonder any otaku here found new hack to save hotel cost overnight....

Yes, there is WILLER buses, but it is not cost effective to have two passes ......

Please share your hacks......

if u are going to take willer bus, that already covers ur long distance trips. so u shldnt be getting JR pass

Still prefer JR pass......... But find that without the overnight highway bus, JR pass seems not so good.....

As in, if you go morning for Osaka to Tokyo, even the earliest (non Nozomi) you reach earliest 10am or later..... But if you take overnight highway bus, you save one night hotel, p,us you reach morning 7am

To use willer, makes the JR not so relevant.....

Willier is not the only bus company there

If you can read Japanese, make use of this highway bus search engine. I've bought Osaka>Tokyo tickets for 1700 yen. Seen some dates go as low as 1500yen but not sure about your travelling dates.
