U didn't indicate where u are going.

Example if u going Hiroshima the Kansai Hiro Area Pass will be useful or if u are heading to Kanazawa u will need the Kansai Hokuriku Pass or Takayama-Hokuriku Pass, but if it is Tokyo then only the nationwide pass can pay off provided u are returning back to Osaka for your flight back.

depends on where u are going. if just going kyoto, nara etc. u dun need any passes.

maybe post ur full itinerary, so it is easier for us to advise on the passes u need?

I think you better settle your lodging soon. Might not be able to find good or cheap lodging. School holidays and Obon Week 12-16 Aug. Plus many fireworks/ summer festivals in August. I settled my lodging 6 months ahead of the previous summer trips.

Thanks. Reading the blog now. By the way, your "based" station in Osaka/Kyoto/? I am struggling because I like Kyoto but worry transport is not as good as Osaka for travelling intercity.

I’m staying a few days for a few cities.
Hiroshima (3 days)
Kobe (3 days)
Kyoto (6days) & lastly Osaka (6days)

So if I’m in Kyoto. I will visit Himeji
If I’m in Osaka I will visit Nara & so on.
