Hi guys, is there dock out there which are ethernet cable based that can be connected to my router so i can access on a LAN based network?

I do have a Synology NAS which is great. But the space is getting clogged up by movies and dramas which i don't really need to access remotely. So i'm hoping to have a multi bay dock for local lan based access and free up the NAS for important documents for remote access.

Thank for the advice in advance:) I'm using a Asus AC68U...maybe the usb might work?

You are basically discribing a NAS. As for attaching a usb HDD to your router, it can be a easy stop gap solution. Maybe upgrade/add more HDD to your existing NAS?

If you're wanna to use the router, asus do have the aidisk functionality. Just search their faq on how to set it up.

Otherwise what you are describing is essentially a NAS.
