lap top ram replacement

Hi

i have an old lenovo lap top..
thinking of upgrading the ram.

the current ram is 2X Samsung 2GB 2Rx8 PC3-8500S-07-10-F2.

so kinda confused which 4GB ram i should get?
this should be DDR3 ram right? does not seem to have availabilty at Sim Lim accordingly to the price list that i have check...

is 4GB-DDR3-1066MHZ compatible?

Your current RAM specs does seem to be DDR3 and 1066MHZ, should be fine.

Is yours a 32-bit operating system? If not, you may want to get more ram, if possible. I would recommend that you google your laptop model and see what is the maximum speed it can handle for RAM, if it can handle faster, you should get faster. 1066MHZ is a safe bet, since it is the same as your old RAM, if you want to play it safe. Hope this bit of IT Support advice helps!

It sounds like yours is a 32GB system, a 4GB to 8GB upgrade will make a noticable difference for sure.

Find out what is the highest ram spec your laptop is able to handle. If not, to play it safe, keep the speed the same. Your PC 8500 should be 1066MHz, See if your laptop can take 1333MHz or more.

In terms of RAM, you can go cheap here. DDR3 is still relatively easy to find, but not for much longer since we are already entering the DDR5 realm of widespread adoption

Take note you PC use PC3 ram and not PC3L (L for low voltage).
My guess your notebook is on those older i5 gen 2 or 3 model?

Yep, just tell them "laptop" ddr3 or sodimm ram.
If it's Windows 10 and a 64bit OS, you can go higher than 4gb.

You can use this table for quick comparison

Note that while PC3 8500 might not be available, you can opt for a higher speed one. However do note that the system will automatically downclock the higher speed ram that you purchase e.g. 1333mhz to 1066mhz
