Laptop Alt-keys not working

Hi all, I am having problems with my laptop's alternate keys failing to work properly suddenly. My laptop's warranty ended last year, so I can't contact HP customer service to help with this issue. I am not very familiar with laptop stuff, so need help from bros out there who know laptop repair and stuff, is it possible for a laptop keyboard to lose functionality for not one but both alternate keys at the same time? the keyboard has been popping out since the last keyboard repair by hp personnel. The laptop is hp dv6-6009tx btw. Thanks so much :/ hope to get some confirmation by laptop gurus before bringing it down to repair.
