If you don't trust the indicator then go and download battery checker utilities to confirm.

Hope you are not using the power adapter to power the laptop.

I guess the indicator is not working as supposed to be. After using for an hour, still at 100%. Nope, power adapter is not plugged in.

Previously the indicator was missing and i went to the device manager to re-install the battery driver and then this happens. Not sure if I missed any steps during the re-installation....

Usually the battery indicator is part of the Windows OS and may no need to install any driver or software.

As the driver or software you may installed may not be the correct one.

Uninstalled whatever you had and try to look for the Windows OS version.

Btw which Windows OS &or laptop model.

I would say it is definitely not correct to have 100% battery level as the minute you start the laptop it would drain a percentage of it.

Windows 10 on Acer laptop.

I've tried this previously but the power option cannot be toggled and that was why I decided to reinstall the driver.

The driver was installed automatically by selecting the best suitable option prompted by the device manager

Not sure these would help or not;

> Acer Internal Battery Reset

Although this refer to Windows 8 and not sure it would be similar to your Windows 10
> No Battery Indicator on my Acer
Please read thru to understand before attempt to make the changes.

Thanks Eric!

Any idea will the internal battery reset corrupt any data? Couldn't find any information on that in the link

Don't think it would affect data as it mentioned that it will disconnect the battery to the laptop.

Meaning the battery is permanently connected to the laptop.

It is another method on physical remove the bottom case and disconnect the battery wiring to the laptop.

So it should not have anything to do with data as data are locked in the SSD/HDD itself.

Unlike doing factory reset or re-installation it will re-write or erase existing data.

My 3 Toshiba laptops come with removable battery pack.

I don't use the battery cause i connect to the main power adapter as for home usage.

Do understand that battery pack in some laptops are permanent as similar to yours.

Whereas battery pack can be removable or replaced where necessary.
