if u want to go for ryzen units then you should wait for the upcoming models.
the performance will be a huge stepup.
my viewpt is that after t480,thinkpad designs have regressed in terms of repairability and durability.

ThinkPad easy to upgrade and change if any parts don't work, and the keyboard is top for programming.

Lastly support and service is good.

I have the e585, t495 and am looking at ThinkPad extreme gen 2 now. It's just that good.
