Hi all, i need advice if a tablet can fully replace the laptop?

Purpose of the laptop is purely surfing net, office extensively only.

I am thinking of tablet reason being tablet is more versatile as i can use it for movie or even light gaming as is very portable unlike laptop. Not knowing the full functionality of a tablet vs the laptop, my worried is that it cannot fulfill what i needed as mentioned above. Can anyone advice on that?

If u hav the budget get both since comp show is a mth away will hav many choices to compare
Both serve different functional uses tablet for leisure activities while laptop for productivity n office tasks so best to separate them for personal n work purposes

I think Tablet (running ChromeOS or iOS etc) cannot fully support Microsoft Office like Excel, Word etc. There are some software that can open but try saving and may have some changes, sometimes easily corrupted (personal experience). So Tablet only good for surfing net, not for editing Excel spreadsheets, Word doc etc. Please double check...

Or you can buy Tablet running Windows, that one is fine, e.g. Micrsoft Surface Pro.

What apps are you using on your laptop?
What OS of tablet are you looking at? Android? IOS?

'Surfing the net" and "office" is very generic and is really app dependent and like what singaporean11 mentioned already, some features of some apps may not be available on the tablet OS or you might not even get the software available on other OS.

Only you will know your use case for the laptop. You got to understand what you really use it for and try to find alternatives first.

Example, If you are used to running adblock youtube on your laptop (assuming windows, browser with ublock origin) and do not pay for youtube premium.
Be prepared to either
1) Pay for premium and use the youtube app
2) Look for browsers that support those adblock software / list on the tablet OS.
3) Run alternatives apps

Suggest to consider proper laptop. Others have already provided good inputs, so won't repeat them

1 additional input to consider, laptop, can angle screen multiple angles, tablet case often only 1 angle, will kenna light reflections

Choose based on the apps you want to use.

If you don't specifically have to use desktop app, you can go with tablets.

Having said that, it is incredibly difficult to go wrong with a laptop.
