Hello veterans, what's the best laptop for my budget of $2200 max?

My use case is to run the following programs at the same time:
- Android Emulators (one instance of both BlueStacks and Nox Player)
- Overwatch (Medium/High graphics setting, no need for maxed/ultra/epic or w/e)
- 10+ Chrome tabs

without any hiccups when alt-tabbing or lag whatsoever, I am not too sure what should I be looking out for with my use case (higher RAM capacity? higher GPU VRAM capacity? etc etc)

I do not mind if the laptop is insanely heavy/cumbersome as long as the thermal management is great as I am looking to use the laptop for at least 3-4 years. In addition, I am not looking to play the latest games at the highest possible settings, just medium to high will suffice!

Thanks in advance!

Check out asus rog 751jy with 980m gpu. Thermal and noise is very good and should fit into your budget. Go for at least 16gb ram and i7. Laptop outlet selling at 1799 refreshed set now with 1 yr asus warranty. Or you can buy used if the price is right, juz make sure it still has some warranty.

Or you can check out asus fx502 or fx702, comes with 1060 gpu and is portable. Price range from 1899 to 2399 depending on specs at challenger.

Paying more than 2k for a 970m is stupid. Ya, rather go for asus model with 1000 series card than msi with a 970m.

agree with lifeishard on the Asus FX502, at 1.7k SGD its pretty good value for a machine with a 1060, its near identical to the 2.2k SGD Asus GL502

however since you need to run android emulators you may need to check your current RAM usage patterns, if 8GB of RAM on a future machine is sufficient since the asus models mentioned may have 8GB or 16GB variants

There's 2 ways to look at this, MSI ge series have IPS panel and some other features that the Asus one does not, that being said, MSI have a model with gtx1060 3gb model going at less then 2k SGD too. But you will skip on some features that will lower your overall experience with notebook, well of cos you can still choose the Asus one too. ^^

Where did you see FX502 selling at 1.7k sgd?

The srp I have checked all around is going at $1898, which is technically $1.9k

harvey norman, but based on checking their online now i think the stocks are near-gone

Still wouldnt recommend a 970m laptop though regardless whatever brands out there are trying to clear stock of their maxwell batch. Especially if the guy is serious what he said about 'wanting the laptop to last 3-4 years'.
