what a poor argument put forth by the blogger. internships are beneficial to both the employee and employer. the employee gets to gain experience and a feel of whether he/she is interested in the job/industry, while the employer often uses it as part of the "interview" process to decide whether the candidate is suitable for a full-time position.

this guy is saying why one should someone who decides to go "backpacking for 3 months" should be disadvantaged over someone who has no internship experience. of course the lazy ass who thinks more about holidaying than gaining practical work experience would be disadvantaged.

he has a strange obsession with how much good "backpacking for 3 months" can do for you. sure buddy, go ahead and holiday all you want!! he probably is facing some difficulties in his job hunt due to excessive backpacking and is now feeling bitter about it due to his lack of internship experience.
