Hi all, I started a new thread because I'm truly curious to know which is the more popular choice with reasons.

I'm on a look out for a 55" TV for my bedroom and I have been to many different Best Denki, Courts and Harvey Norman around the island, mainly to listen to the opinions of different salesman as well as look as the TVs (some stores have the models I wanted side by side to provide a better comparison.

However, I noticed that the salesman are heavily biased and skewed towards a particular brand and that made my decision making process harder than it already is.

I'm currently contemplating:

LG NANO80
Samsung Q60T
Sony X8000H

The 3 TVs are in a similar price range and they are pretty comparable with each other. I understand that they are not the more popular TV variants but it is within my budget of $1,500.

Notable mention would be LG CX. Though affordable still, it is still out of my budget and I can't exactly justify if the extra cost ($500) would be worth it.

Would appreciate opinions and feedbacks from you guys to aid in my decision making process!

Thanks and have a great week ahead!

LG CX would be the obvious choice from your selection list but is it worth that extra $500? Only you can decide for yourself.

I guess you mainly use it for streaming in your room? Does OLED panel and superior picture quality justify the $500? Personally, I don’t think so unless you are one who always want the best in everything. That money could be better save for a decent soundbar.

My recommendation would be to go with Sony X9000H instead of X8000H. You can easily get it within $1500 now.

Appreciate your feedback bro!

Would like to add that the TV will be used for streaming, sports as well as occasional terrestrial TV programmes (trashy I know). I do have a switch and PS4 that is currently in the living room and I may bring the PS4 to the room if I do get the CX.

I don't intend to get a soundbar at the moment though...

Mind elaborating why X9000H instead?

Cheers!

You can download the meWATCH app from your smart TV or cast it to the TV from your mobile devices to watch terrestrial channels.

For Switch and PS4, you can hook them up to the CX with no issue. The CX has HDMI 2.1 to take advantage of 4K120Hz gaming supported on the PS4.

The colours will really pop if you play 4K HDR contents on the OLED though OLED has burn-in issue.

I suggested the X9000H because for 55”, it will be around your budget and it’s overall a better TV in your initial 3 listed models sans the CX. The X9000H also supports Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos.

It also have everything you need for “future proofing” like HDMI 2.1 ports, VRR and ALLM (via future firmware updates).

You can go YouTube to see reviews and comparisons between CX and X9000H. The result will surprise you lol.

Depends on what u use it for. The X9000H is indeed a much better choice than the 3 presented, to get it at the price *adiBOY mentioned though you have to get imported set(so even their 1 year warranty is kinda iffy).

Not sure why but local sets for sony tv's are crazily marked up, X9000H is almost the same price as LG CX, at launch in USA it was like 1200USD vs 2000USD.

But anyway, I like OLED and think LG CX is the way to go for movies/netflix unless you watch like 4 hours of CNA everyday

Managed to get a 55 inch X9000H for around 1.7k at Best Denki online store a few weeks back, quite a bit cheaper than the CX at around 2k.

I personally wouldn't spend 1.5k on the 3 sets you posted, since they all lack local dimming and are native 50/60Hz panels.

How is the TV so far? Are you using it for gaming or just streaming?

Pros: Local dimming seems to work quite well, so picture quality is very good. Android TV is much smoother than my previous set (X850D) and has just about every single feature and app you need.

Cons: The viewing angles are quite narrow so something to keep an eye out for. Had to restart once after the sound cut out for built-in apps for some reason. Maybe the new update fixed it, no idea.

Not planning on using it for gaming so far, but it's probably the TV with the best picture quality at this price range. HDMI 2.1 is a nice bonus but I probably won't be using it.

I just hope this set will last longer than the previous Sony TV I owned (less than 4 years).

The viewing angle could be due to the lack of X-wide filter implemented on the higher end model.

Sound cut out is a known issue. I thought the latest firmware already fixed it?

What happened to your last TV though? 4 years is a short lifespan for TV.

I was aware that viewing angles was poor due to VA panel, but still prefer it over IPS glow. Just updated to new firmware, will see if it fixes the issue.

Interesting. Why did you pick GX over CX?

I like the flush wall mount. It’s for my dining area. So I chose 55gx, almost went for 65gx but my gf told me don’t get too big as it will look weird in my dining area.
Tv is mainly for YouTube and twitch when I eat. Not high usage, main strength is the 2cm wall gap, if I go for 55cx mount, it will protrude almost 4 inches out and look kinda ugly. Wanted to get Sonos beam but see how first, just casual watching maybe I will use internal tv speakers or pair it using Bluetooth with my harman kardon aura studio 3.

I have 65gx wall mounted in my bedroom and 65cx in my tv console area.
With sn11rg and SN9yg sound bars.

You have a nice collection of OLEDs there - 65GX, 65CX and soon 55GX. Great choices! 👍
