Dear seniors here, i am not an it guy and need your help on the settings. Perviously was on the Singtel Ac Plus router with singtel tv (ont). Have never use Linksys before and just recontract to the promo last week with the Linksys E9450 bundle. Followed the setup instructions and connnection was up and running.
Then encountered problem on my older device like the home security cam cannot detect the wifi. After google for troubleshooting, found that my old cam only can work on 2.4ghz.
After reading details on linksys, i log into the linksys router and found that the frequency setting is 5ghz and my wifi ssid shows linksysxxxx 24ghz/5ghz.
Need the experts advise:
1. How to set it to auto mode or do i have to manually set to 2.4ghz and 5ghz and how do i set it?
2. Do i have to set different ssid for 2.4 and 5ghz because i see many wifi ssid in my wifi zone all have different ssids for different frequency. How to set this ssid?
3. Default bandwidth is 80ghz. Do i need to change this to 160ghz?

I have searched linksys for solutions but their instructions are all on the old router settings. Have tried calling singtel but tech support says this is a 3rd party router, they are not able to help. Tired calling linksys tech support but call keeps getting cut off.

Please advise. Thank you everyone.

If you have old devices like your cam that works only with 2.4GHz, you may want to have seperate SSID for 2.4GHz and 5GHz.

You can set different SSID in the router configuration web page under Wi-Fi | Basic Wireless Settings. You can see both 2.4GHz and 5GHz settings to set their own individual SSID.

Dear Senior Apex, truly thank you so much for the advise and most of all for the user guide which was not even provided by Linksys, only the quick start guide and singtel installation guide.
Will read through the user guide and try it tonight.

Since you are settngs it up for your Singtel BB, better to use the Singtel guide :
https://www.singtel.com/content/dam...routers/singnet/Linksys_E9450_Setup_Guide.pdf
2. Do i have to set different ssid for 2.4 and 5ghz because i see many wifi ssid in my wifi zone all have different ssids for different frequency. How to set this ssid?
Ans it is recommended to have 2 different ssid for the 2.4 and 5ghz bands.
Search for Radio, it will quickly bring you to the correct section.

3. Default bandwidth is 80ghz. Do i need to change this to 160ghz?
Ans : 80ghz is to ensure compatibility between wifi AC and AX device, by changing it to 160ghz, only AX device can connect to your router. Your AC device will be left out in the cold.

Hi everyone, i am back to seek your expert advise on the connection issues.

Following the steps from the installation guide and i have to log into router http://192.168.79.1 because i am on singtel broadband. This are my trial and error findings:

1. When the router is setup as a Parent node, the 2.4ghz/5ghz bands are broadcast as only 1 single ssid, eg: Linksysxxx [2.4g/5g]. Googled and found another term for this combined ssid is called "band steering".

Problem encountered:
1a)I have a ipcam(802.11b/g/n) and a 32 inch tv(802.11g/n). The ipcam is unable to detect the wifi but the tv is able to detect and connect to the wifi.

2. After advise from seniors here that having 2 separate ssids should be able to resolve the issue on the ipcam. After much trial and error, i managed to figure out how to have 2 separate ssids.
In the setup page, go to General, Mesh setup, change the node type to Non-Mesh (which means you don't have any plans to add additional nodes in future). After saving the changes, restarted the router and there are now 2 separate ssids, eg. Linksysxxx and Linksysxxx_5G.

Problem encountered:
2a) the ipcam(802.11b/g/n) was still unable to detect the wifi even after i am log into the 2.4ghz wifi to do the setting.
2b) the 32 inch tv(802.11g/n) which was able to connect to the single ssid;Linksysxxx [2.4g/5g] earlier is now facing wifi disruption on the Linksysxxx2.4ghz.

So after being able to create separate ssids to differentiate the 2 bands, i was still unable to connect the ipcam to the wifi and now the tv connection have become unstable. So i have decided to revert back to the original setting of the router as a Parent node for time being.
Meantime i seek your experts advise here on the wifi 2.4ghz connection issue on the ipcam and the unstable connection on the tv when the ssids are broadcast separately.

Thank you once again..

1) See if you can disable AX on the 2.4GHz band and check if that helps.

2) Try to check the 2.4GHz band used and see if you can change it to lower number like CH1 to see if that helps. Do not use CH12 or CH13.

3) The other way is to create a guest wifi for the IP camera to see if that works.

Good morning, just to update that after a few weeks of frustration to get this Linksys ax5400 to work, even with the inputs from seniors here and trying all the different settings, googling for solutions, it just didn't work out.
The signal is so unstable, regardless it's at default mode or adjusted settings, the internet connection keeps disconnecting and so disruptive to everyone's work from home and grandchildren home base learning sessions.

Linksys support is really bad.

Finally ditched this Linksys for a Asus over the weekend and all systems are up and running in no time.

I am a senior guy with little networking knowledge, many thanks to various inputs from seniors here and the past weeks googling for solutions, i really learned a great deal on router settings etc.
