Hello,

Just got some used gear for my first audio system, can someone let me know if i got a good deal and what i should upgrade to in the future? This is for living room set up, using mostly for music (70%) and netflix (30%). Won't be getting subwoofer because of space constraint.

Marantz PM6006 for 350
Q Acoustic Concept 40 for 550
Wiim Pro Plus (new) for 314

Regards

Subwoofer is a must for movies, it comes in different sizes as well.
But if your main usage is music then not that important depends on what music you are into.
Since you just got them, enjoy and get used to it first before considering upgrade.
cheers

Q Acoustic Concept 40 should be quite a decent speaker. Never heard it personally before but I did enjoy the sound of Concept 300 when I demoed it at Alpha. I will recommend you some possible upgrade paths for gears costing less than $2000 each.

The Concept 40 is reasonably sensitive at 90db, so you might consider exploring an upgrade to a tube integrated amplifier. If the Concept 40 sounded similar to the Concept 300 I heard, then it should have a luscious mid that a good tube integrated would be able to improve further. You can consider something like Wilsenton R8.

The next step then you might want to consider getting a new DAC. If you like those analog vinyl sound, then a good R2R DAC is a good next step. Or a good Sigma Delta if you prefer more details and resolution. Denafrips, Musician have R2R DACs under 2K. Gustard, Fiio, and Topping for more traditional sigma delta DACs.
