Looking for External HDD

I am looking for a External HDD. Should i go for the Seagate Expansion or WD MyBook or buy my own HDD and enclosure?

Another question are the HDDs in the Seagate/WD enclosures of a good performance/durability as they cost the same as the bare drive (W/O enclosure)

That depends.

For instance, the WD elements uses WD green disk these days

Whereas the WD passport usually uses WD blue.

So if transfer speed is a factor, skip the elements.

Bare disk on the other hand, gives you the luxury to choose which you prefer but the 3rd party enclosures in the market are kinda lacklustre.

Thats based on my own experience with WD disks. Others might differ.
