And then no one hires you because of your shitty grades and you end up giving out credit card brochures for the rest of your life. Yup! Just get a C and your life will be fine! No honours no worries.
May I know where do you get the information which tells you that grades from different institutions are aligned, that is, a C from NTU is equivalent to a C from another institutition?
I would just want to say that passing your courses in NTU is really not difficult if you put in even just a bit of effort. It's scoring the As that reuires lots of effort.

I second that. Even getting a B for some courses like engin is difficult. And even if you pass and get an E or D, your GPA would be less than 2.0, which means you can't even graduate. So what's the point of just passing?
I am really lost as to where I should go now, I hope by posting here I am able to receive some advice to guide me along. Here's my story..
After graduating from poly, I found that my interests lies with finance and business so I have been trying to apply Business in the big threes (NUS, SMU, NTU) for the past 2 years but have been rejected both times. I appealed with all three but got rejected again. I regretted not studying harder if I knew how competitive it will be to get into business courses locally.
This year will be the final year before i ORD. As my grades are sub par I decided to try taking the SAT as a supporting document but unfortunately my SAT scores aren't that great either. I will be applying again this year (and appealing if rejected) do you think I may still stand a chance for the business degree?
I am also planning to take the SAT in MAY again as SMU application accepts results from the May sitting, and probably I can use the May grades for overseas universities. (But is it even worth it?)
Currently, I am thinking of some contingency plans as well, I roughly have some ideas from speaking with my friends but would like to hear more opinions here as well! Below is my thought process arranged in terms of importance.
A) Should I go overseas?
- Which country?
- Fees?
- Which university is recognised internationally and able to accept my current grades?
- Where can I go for credible information with regards to the above questions? (HWZ forums!)
B) If locally, what should be my course of action? Uni?
The only universities I heard of are
- Kaplan / Murdoch
- SIM (UOL/ RMIT / GE)
- PSB Academy
- SIT (Accountancy degree, local uni but graduating in a technology school?)
C) Should I choose an engineering degree to get into the big threes? I have a friend who advised me to try the engineering path as it is versatile, once out into the working world, I am able to get back into the business industry.
Thanks for reading such a long post! Please post as much comments here as possible, I am willing to take any advice!
Are you a smart person? How much research can do or willing to do? If you have 200k to burn and you want to go to Aus? Might as well use the money to buy properties and invest. If your results are going to be mediocre, don't bother. There's a lot of competition in finance. What makes you stand out from your competitors? If you can't even do simple research, ie, going to each uni's website and find out the fees, living expenses, I would suggest you better not waste the money.

Haha my bad.. Apart from the name, maybe you guys could enlighten me on what are the factors I could look out for in differentiating SIT accountancy degree than compared to NTU or the ones offered in other private unis (UOL, etc)?
I don't think there is much to differentiate.
SIT accountancy may not be an accredited programme with SQP now, because it is a very new programme that only started last year.
- Entry Requirements | Singapore Qualification Programme
SIT is pursuing accreditation with SAC now to be added into SQP. I expect SIT Accountancy to follow all other singapore accountancy programme that came before it, example SMU accountancy and UniSIM accountancy.
SIT is also actively pursuing accreditation from ACCA, ICAA and ICAEW,
- Design, Education & Social Science
Foreign degrees from private institution will be offered SQP on case by case basis. There is no known policy to automatically allow them to enter SQP Professional programme.
The advantage NTU has over SIT is their established brand name and global ranking.
- NTU may have a more establish career services that have strong accountancy firm contacts.
- NTU also have graduates out there in the accountancy industry, some may even hold high position, hence the alumni power.
- NTU accountancy already have the accreditations and recognition.

Smart but not hard working can only go so far.
Ts didn't state he wanna read finance but business. Yes finance is a business major but biz degree does not always and only mean finance.
200k can invest in property in where? Property high ROI? It's easy to say with money invest, day trade if good o level cert also can be millionaire but how many can do it?
Finally I have to agree with u on the last item, TS need to perform basic homework not expect spoon feeding too much, a lot of treads do a simple search.
Don't say or think budget is 200k where can I go, this is no dream money. No money choice limited. One need to be mature to step out of sg.
Finally to TS
If u go overseas u seek to return or stay there to find work?

I read TS's first, post his interests lie in finance and business. Business so so generic and wide. Sales is also business. Retail is also business. If TS wants to go accountancy, just get the ACCA. If TS wants to get a general biz degree, can settle for SIM or the distance learning program. Unless family is generous enough to not want to see the ROI. How many months of work/salary is gonna generate the ROI of $200k? Say even if TS manages a salary of $10k/month (average), it takes 20 months to get the ROI of $200k, which isn't too bad. If salary averages $5k/month, it takes 40 months to get the ROI which is 3 years +.
A 'smart' person 'frets' over which university/course offer to accept, not whether can go into any course at uni.
Don't mean to be discouraging. These days most youngsters don't really know the value of money. Unless you are doing a niche program or your family is very rich. If not, don't waste money, time and effort studying in Aus.
Thats y i am very lazy to answer his question on, with 200k which uni can i go in oz...
isnt that a research he has to do himself? every university have a few core items that distinguish itself from other university.
Honestly i more or less regretted spending my 120k on my degree overseas as the ROI is 10 years. supposed to be 6 years but accidents do happen along the way.
