I can't find any E7X00 processors. Found one that was model 6400. Specs are as follow: 3 cores,L2 Cache 2mb,
2.13Ghz, 64 bit, 65nm Lithography. Was for $40. How about this?
Please don't waste time. If you can't afford a full overhaul just save up and wait a little longer. Whatever $$$ you spend now will not give you a significant upgrade nor is it worth the time.

I think a P4 to E8400 would be a significant upgrade. Yes it would be far behind current gen stuff and it's not worth it normally. I'm also planning to rebuild my E7200 based com haha.
But then, the TS sounds like he is going overseas for dunno how long, so it MIGHT make a little bit of sense to just stop at say $80. Very hard to get any combo new for less than $200 because cannot reuse RAM. 2nd hand sandy/ivy parts don't look very budget friendly too.
