Hi guys, I'm new to buying shares and am looking for some advice. I will be buying and holding about SGD$50-100k of shares in one go, and probably add $5k to my portfolio every 3-6 months intervals. I'm after a fuss-free, set and forget basket of shares as I have other responsibilities in life including work and family. Shares I'm interested in are for overseas (VWRA, CSPX), and for local (G3B, Singtel, Capitaland for REITs exposure) plus maybe a couple others. Any other recommendations?

Secondly, is there a single low-cost brokerage platform able to trade all of the above, or should I sign up for two or more brokerages to minimise my trading/holding costs? I'm not too interested in gimmicky promos like the recent Tiger Brokers ang baos as I'm in it for the long haul. I have seen the likes of IB, Standchart, DBS Vickers, Tiger, recommended in these threads but am unsure which is best for my situation (buy $50-100k of different shares in one go and 3-6 monthly injection of $5k funds).

If IB is suggested, should I prefer IB USA vs SG account (if I can get a referral code)? Are our funds safe with IB compared to a local brokerage like DBS Vickers with a local office to call in case anything goes wrong?

Thanks all for your advice.

If you want to buy local ETFs can only be IBKR SG.
