Going to recontract soon. Usage still within that 2-3gb usage. But is it good to have LTE or just stay with my 3G?

Comparing my friends ipad on LTE, speed wise also the same as 3G for m1. Right? In term watching some YouTube and web surfing.

I dun understand what made u think LTE was the same speed as 3G for M1.
Ping times and latency are much lower on LTE.

Coverage for M1's LTE is extremely good. The phone catches and locks on to LTE very frequently unlike others. Speeds typically are from 9mbps - 20+mbps.

Are you serious. LTE is a lot faster than 3G. On my iP4S I'm only getting 0.5-2 Mb/s 3G but on my iP5 LTE I get a steady 18-35 Mb/s depending on location. On M1 too.

Ping and uplink are also a lot better on LTE.
There's no reason why you should stick with 3G especially when the data cap is the same for both 3G/LTE.

If you buy a LTE enabled phone, you have no option to retain your 3G even if you wanted to.

You will be bumped to LTE the moment you sign contract for a subsidised LTE phone.

Certain operator who uses 4G as a VAS such as singtel, you can disable this VAS online and you can use back your 3G, but is there even a real reason to do so?

Not just the speed difference, LTE has a larger bandwidth now because majority of the people are on the 3G.

With less people on LTE band, you enjoy smoother surfing experience...

Sorry, maybe I didn't make myself clear. I have the option to upgrade from telco of just buy the phone from them. :)

Gardiboy, if you talking about pinging and speed test, of coz it does show different. Mine is 14.4mbps.

Bottom line, switch to LTE and dump 3G. M1's LTE is covered in almost all areas. If there's no LTE, it will fallback to 3G for a short moment.

LTE is like next-gen fibre optic internet compared to ADSL/cable. The jump in speed is noticable when using LTE over 3G :s22:

LTE bandwidth is extremely large. Compared to 3G, LTE is way much faster. Load a youtube video, perhaps 15mins video, LTE can finish downloading it in less than 10secs. 3G got to buffer slowly.

LTE download speed at any one point of time if the place is not crowded it should give you 9mbps to 24mbps. Anything more is a bonus.

But if you are using it at crowded areas like shopping malls, then it could be slower.

Too bad im working in telco company. If i can tell you why you should upgrade to LTE i would kindly elaborate more about LTE and 3G differences.

But in terms of customer point of views. LTE is way much faster.

Another thing to take note. Since recontracting an iphone 5, you must take note that iphone 5 has only one band of frequency use in LTE, 1800mhz.

Do not come back to telco and complain why you got no coverage for LTE if you stay places near the sea. Places like Tuas, Marsling, Sembawang, Punggol, East Coast Park, PSA Port, or any other places near sea. Simply because these area are using 2600mhz frequency. This is to control the cell coverage size so that it wont go too far out at sea. iPhone 5 will work properly on SH network as they are only using 1800mhz refarm for LTE. They don't operate LTE on 2600mhz. So it might work properly. The only thing they are lacking is their LTE coverage is nuts.

Just curious..how come on iphone 5, it takes quite abit of time for it to 'hook' on to SingTel's LTE?
