For general usage no point.

In most day to day usage, it's not going to make a huge difference. The response time improvement have pretty much stagnated, and the high transfer rate won't matter much to most users.

Most of the benefit comes from data transfer rates so if you move files around a lot, thats when you will feel it most.

There are some videos on youtube which took differences in boot time and app load times and well as loading times in games comparing SATA to NVME and the difference is really small. If you did not use a stopwatch, you would probably never notice the difference.

Having said that I am still planning to use an M2 NVMe drive in my next build. But for anyone trying to get maximum bang for the buck..SATA is still the best way to go. Large capacity SATA drives are really starting to get affordable and getting cheaper by the day

In terms of performance there is negligible difference. So don't go for it just because of performance.

But for me if I am building a new rig I would still go for m.2 because of space and the lack of cables and additional 2.5' space saved for another storage device. m.2 can clean up clutter in your casing which is important for some people, especially in ITX casings.

It's like inserting a RAM into a slot. No hassle.

yeah a big draw for using m.2 in my next build is the synergy i can get

but if 1TB SSDs get more affordable... why not? lol

I like m.2 mainly because it saves some space in my casing.
