Totally agree with upgrading your own RAM and getting refurbished, especially for Mac Mini which you just put away somewhere. You still get full warranty and can add AppleCare. As for RAM, been using 3rd party with no problems whatsoever, and easy to upgrade.

One other thought. I've upgraded my Mac Mini with a SSD on top of the original HDD that came with it. Not sure if the current model allows like-wise. Certainly save quite a fair bit compared to getting Fusion drive.

yeah but their refurbished only got 2012 models for imac...dont have 2013...

Lolx. there you go. A sold Apple user :) I guess the discernible jagged fonts, anti-aliased gray looking (in fact can even see the coloured fringe due to sub-pixel aliasing), black fonts hurt your eyes right ? :) You don't get those even viewed on the Retina display which has such small pixels that even if you put your eyes inches away from the screen, you still only see a sharp edged glyph.

Hmm. My sis in law uses a Mac mini since she has existing monitor and other peripherals, while I use an iMac. It's really very space saving and elegant.

If I need intensive office work outside, I would get a MacBook Air without batting an eyelid.
