Macbook Pro upgrade

Hi guys,

I bought a early 2015 Macbook Pro retina display, I realize that now I would like to upgrade my SSD and Ram.

If anyone has any experience please do let me know;

1. If apple store allows the upgrade for additional price

2. Any 3rd party shop with good reputation that does this sort of things.

I understand the warrenty will be void but due to work I need the upgrades on both the SSD and ram.

Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you.

The RAM is soldered, so that would be quite impossible to upgrade. The SSD otoh is easier. Just need to buy the right one.

Apple themselves won't do any upgrade.

SSD is also proprietary connector. I think if you sell it and re-buy might be cheaper than upgrading separately.

I have got a 2011 version (Model A1278) MBP. Am thinking of upgrading the ram (max I read somewhere is 8GB, currently I have got 4GB). what kind of ram should I look for? Also looking to replace my 500GB HDD with a 256GB SSD.

Any shop to recommend to do this upgrading ? Thanks

For 2015 model, you can forget about upgrading the RAM since its soldered onto the mainboard. As for the SSD, you are in luck. OWC has just launched a new SSD specifically for new Macbook 2013-Current. You can find the link below:

Just DIY. It's fairly easy. Just plug and play to be honest. Nothing to worry about. Just watch YouTube. All the guides are there.

To add on, make sure you use the correct screw driver size.

I once damaged a screw on my MBP using an incorrect size and had a challenging time removing it.

I have the Early-2011 MBP. Currently having 8x2 1333mhz DDR3 ram by Kingston. Cheap and running good. So 16GB is not an issue

I have upgraded my MacBook Pro 13 inch late 2011.

- Samsung 850 EVO 1 TB (bought it for $579 during that time, now should be $500+)

- Crucial 16GB RAM (shipped from Amazon)

I went over to some Mac repair stores to ask them to help me install. The pricing should range from $50-$100 for the installation?
