Maldives recommendations

I've just got a ticket to Malé. Solo guy travelling in Mar 2017, 7D6N. Have got PADI AOW and EANx license.

Any recommended dive operators/ resorts/ inns/ activities? Budget for diving would be roughly USD800-1k. Budget for accommodation would be ~ USD50/night thereabouts. Rugged accommodation is fine with me.

how about a live-on-board diving safari ?

i know a operator of a nice 100 ft diving boat ... MV Dreamcatcher II

their trip runs Sat to Sat though ... around USD 1500 full board, accommodations, about 17 dives

Mar shld still be doing the North Ari atoll itin which has lots more to see.

Check out emperor fleet. The boats are about 1700 usd.

I'm on carpe novo in jan 2017. That one is 2500 usd.

most LOB seem to cater to a full week worth of diving. runs from Sat to Sat. I landing on a wednesday

any land based dive operators to recommend instead?

I have been on it 3 times, & got to know the General Mgr of the boat.
He informs me of deals to share with SGP divers, so prices directly from him will be lower. Just doing him a favour.

Not the newest LOB boat around now but still comfortable. Good rooms, AC with ensuite. Have been on other less comfy & more luxurious LOB in Maldives & elsewhere. More importantly, they run a safe & honest operation.

But, as u said, most Maldives LOB are Sat to Sat ...

the night dive with nurse sharks, rays & eels at nearby Alimantha not for the squirmish. expect close encounters.

No, i'm not. But i frequent scubasg.

That's why i went with carpe novo. Hard to find packages that dont charge single supplement. I need my own personal space haha.
