Hello. This is my first time posting a thread here, not sure if I did it right.

I wanna know/learn more about this course like what is the culture like, the job prospects of being a MSE graduate, how hard the course is, or anything I should know about MSE. I chose this course as it seems interesting to me.

I heard there is not much job prospects to this degree, most people are not having a job related to MSE/engineer after they graduate and limited job vacancies available.
Is it true?
Also, what did you guys choose to specialise in during year 4?

I also wanna know what electives did people in MSE choose and
What is a Minor that is easy to score/ppl usually scored easily in?

Thank you so much !!:)

Hi,

If no prospect, then why choose this course? Hahaha....

For Materials graduates, you can work in the following:

- semiconductors, I have tons of friends in this sector so if you go to a semicon fab, you will find it is a NTU MSE "club" there in some depts....

- failure analysis / testing / lab analysis, you can work in any sector that deals with failure analysis or other advanced instrumental analysis (I have friends working in aerospace sector, think one of them heads the failure analysis at Roll Royce now... I have another friend who is a XRD / SEM specialist )
- corrosion / petrochemical - I know petrochemical industry do take in material engineering graduate as corrosion engineer
- teaching, some went to MOE, some in poly and some in university doing research...
- banks, I know of friends in banking sector too...

to be frank, it depends on individuals.... opportunities are limited by your imagination (and luck I guess)...
