Introduction

The ASUS USB-AC68 is a pocket-sized Wi-Fi USB adapter that provides notebooks or desktops an instant upgrade to ultra-fast dual-band 802.11ac speeds of up to 1900Mbps.

It features a powerful three-transmit, four-receive (3x4) MIMO design with two external movable antennas and ASUS AiRadar beamforming technology for outstanding signal coverage.

Additionally, the adapter's USB 3.0 interface delivers up to 10X-faster data transfer speeds, eliminating potential performance bottlenecks. ASUS USB-AC68 includes a desktop cradle with an extension cord for flexible positioning of the adapter to achieve the very best performance, even in areas with troublesome Wi-Fi reception.

Powered by Realtek 8814AU 802.11AC 4x4:3 MIMO, the same WiFi chipset which D-Link DWA-192 uses.

ASUS goes further in coming out an ultra-compact, unobtrusive and minimalist design and more compact form factor and better performing by moving 2x internal antenna to external (detachable USB 3.0 cradle and 2x external/2x internal antenna)

ASUS RT-AC88U - Channel 36 - SGIX SpeedTest

First test already blown every other vendors' USB adapter SpeedTest over and over ..... :) I'm truly impressed ... just WOW ....

If why the almost 2x upload for some, i have no idea .... it's reproducible and i have already feedback to ASUS TW for some answers, can't be all 3 local SpeedTest servers are all siding ASUS ....

Nevertheless .... on the average ~ it's 500+Mbps/500+Mbps on line of sight easily if you have the proper environment and equipment.

ASUS RT-AC88U - Channel 36 - SoftLayer SpeedTest

ASUS RT-AC88U - Channel 36 - VQ SpeedTest

ASUS RT-AC88U - Channel 149 - SGIX SpeedTest

Compared to the PCE-AC68, which one should be better? Or is it purely a matter of interface choice?
