Hi,

My MBP suddenly can't powered on without power source.

When I powered on with AC, it is able to detect the battery as 100% charged. However, when I turn off the power, the machine shut down immediately.

Seems like is a battery issue?

Unfortunately warranty just ended not long ago. Is there any other method which I can try to repair myself?

Please advise. Thanks.

How far out of warranty is your mac? if less than a month, call AppleCare and request for an exception. As i always mentioned, be nice and cooperative with the advisor you are speaking to and they will try their best to help you.

Also, have you tried doing any troubleshooting yet? SMC reset will be applicable for such issue.

not likely to be a battery issue, could be the Magsafe board or one of the flex cables that connect to the logic board.

Thanks for all the replies.

After one day never touch my MBP and suddenly today I open the screen, it recover from sleep mode (85% batttery). I tried plug in with AC and turn off and it didn't shut down now. Still charging...

My MBP is about 1.5 years old. I hope this is some software related issue. I will try to reset the SMC thingy if it happened again.

Else I may have to explore on the DIY repair guide. May I know are those battery from amazon or eBay reliable?

Thanks.

u can check e amazon reviews. e anker ones seem to have good reviews n got 18mths warranty. a few mths ago when I replaced e batt for a family member I got e batt (incl e tri-wing screwdriver) frm a local vendor. batt was more ex n had only 6mths warranty. I shud have checked amazon 1st :o

having said that, u shud try what e others suggested 1st. my case was slightly diff. e MacBook's date kept resetting to 1-1-1900 n e batt status was "replace now" so no choice had to change it.
