MBP cant recognize new ssd

Hi there,

I am currently trying to switch my 2010 MBP to ssd (Samsung 840 Evo).

After changing and starting it back up, instead of showing disk utility. A box with a ? appeared.

What does it mean? Must I reformat my ssd into ms journal before switching?

Install the operating system (OS X) first.

your Mac probably doesnt have the firmware to support Internet recovery. Boot to your Snow Leopard install DVD and use DU from there.

Means insert my OS installation disc in during the first power up?

Make sure your SSD file system is formatted to HFS+ (Journaled) first. Otherwise it won't even let you install the OS

use your old disk to boot, then update the new firmware.

following that, replace the evo again and press cmd r during the next boot up.
