My mum has been paying a Medisave medical insurance plan for many many years, since she was a young adult, but recently was diagnosed with Hepatitis B carrier...

so far still in good health and not expecting health to deteriorate...

must we declare to insurance provider now?? Or only let them know if hospitalised?

now that we know she has hepatitis B, can we upgrade the plan without any exclusion, especially since we have been loyal supporters for 10+ years....

If there's no change in medical plan, there is no need to inform the insurer.

Should she decide to upgrade, she will have to declare her medical condition to facilitate the medical underwriting. For Hep B, very likely is exclusion of liver.

Insurance companies are unfortunately not charitable organisations. Loyalty counts for very little...

Bro, if the insurer with Plan A incomeshield diagnosed with cancer but the insurer didn't claim for treatment in NCC as the insurer claim thru company insurance.

So do the insurer needs to inform Income? So next year if the insurer lose his job, can still claim from Income? Will the policy be affected?

Hep B carrier is still a normal person, must watch what u eat. Cannot drink too much alcohol or Hep B will attack the person, that was what happened to my brother, passed away in less than 6 mths diagnosed with liver cancer, still covered by his enhanced incomeshield. Only if u changing or signing up another insurance policy then u check with the insurer does it affect policy, I dont think so from pass experience, not sure now.

I believe you mean "insured" instead of "insurer".

In theory, the insured need not inform the insurance company. In practice, NCC would have e-file the claims through the central system and the record will be lodged with the respective insurer as a record.

Losing your job has nothing to do with the ability to claim from the insurance companies unless we are talking about disability income insurance. Claims are handled strictly to the t&c of the policy schedules.

Thanks bro, one more thing to ask, will the incomeshield premium increases when started claiming for critical illness?
You see the medishield policy is re-new every year.

No need to declare.

Can upgrade but high level plan will exclude the Hep B. Should hospitalization occur due to Hep B, can fall back to lower level plan for cover.

Do not switch insurer when upgrading plan.
