Melbourne public transport payment

Will be in Melbourne for 3 days.
Will be in the CBD mainly but will make a trip to St Kilda's beach.

CBD got free tram.
But need advice on what to use for bus ride payment to St Kilda's.

Besides Myki card, can I use credit card or Google Pay to pay bus, tram and train fares?

No, only the myki can be used. although you can put your myki into an android phone and use your phone to tap.

Google Pay

The myki on android uses Google Pay. If you go inside the Google Pay app, choose Passes, add, choose Public transport, and you'll see the entry for Melbourne, AUS. This is the myki card. Minimum top up is $10.

The myki card is used for the public trams. But if you are staying for a short period, might be wise to stay within the free tram zone to save on your transportation cost.

Just for the sake of completeness, you don't need a myki to travel within the free tram zone - simply walk on and off like a boss.
