Messaging app without constant Internet connectivity

I am currently using WhatsApp on my laptop when I am working.

However, WhatsApp requires the phone to be connected all the time. The WhatApp Web will report "Phone Not Connected" error and refuse to sync or refresh.

Sometimes I would like to turn my phone off totally to concentrate, or leave it aside to charge.

At other times, my phone is configured to sleep or optimize WiFi to conserve battery usage, thus the connection gets cut off on its own every now and then as well.

In addition, each time I open up WhatsApp Web, I have to re-login by scanning the QR code. This can happen several times a day when I log in and out of my laptop when I am not actively using my laptop.

Thus, I am getting fed up with WhatsApp and looking for other messaging app alternatives.

Does Facebook Messenger has this requirement and would it be a better alternative for my use case?

If I am offline for sometime, can it just cache any incoming messages until I am ready to check them again like email?

Do I have to keep re-logging in and scanning QR code for Facebook messenger?

Facebook messenger is more suitable for ur usage since I think they store all data on the server no matter what.

but WhatsApp is more of using the handphone as a medium to collect the data so that it can be transmitted to the web server.

next few are Line and WeChat. ( which iirc they are like Facebook messenger.

TS should seriously consider the telegram web client

(on a side note: this is coming from an early adopter of whatsapp who has pretty given up on it)

or Skype are great alternatives.


Depends if your firm is on team google or team microsoft for their email client
