Why must install again after upgrade ? Immediately ?

It's by preference - but since I am in the midst of upgrading, I would do it immediately after to not disrupt the force :zotto: (starwars reference)

A clean installation is preferred especially when upgrading to 10 as it allows for easier trouble shooting of driver related issues and unexplained lags that do arise which are hard to diagnose - couple of friends had such issues and their experience with 10 was not "ideal" - experienced hangs etc and had reverted back to their respective OS-es - 8.1.

You mean we cannot do a fresh install with our cd key without upgrading first ????

I believe that the mentioned method by you works too - didn't work initially but now allowed.

The conventional method would be to upgrade and then create a bootable drive via the media creation tool offered by Microsoft then fresh install via the method we normally install windows with - bios -- boot flash drive -- install. The difference is that when prompted for a CD key, one can simply click Skip.

The third method (tried and verified by me) would be to create a bootable media drive via the media creation tool (Ensure right version and bit of Windows) and then click on setup.exe to install in the root of the flashdrive.

If you are using Windows 7 on your laptop, I guess upgrading to Windows 10 is okay. Its not as if you are upgrading from XP to Vista and need significant hardware upgrade

Yeah. Its fine. Mine auto upgrade to Windows 10 too. All working fine.

Win 7 to win 10 upgrade is free. Fresh install is free too?

Yes. Once you update your Win 7 to 10, you can reinstall the OS without having to input any key (just skip it), only to the same rig.
