hi all,

i am looking into getting a mini-ITX motherboard for gaming. i have already gotten a Node 202 casing.

i am aiming at:
i5-7500 + MSI H110i Pro AC -> 422SGD from Cybermind (i don't really need the wifi)

but from what i read, this board started off with Skylake CPU so without a BIOS update, the board will not be able to boot to POST with a Kabylake CPU.

so is this still a recurring problem for Skylake motherboards? or most should already been updated to support Kabylake?

or should i get a B250 mini-ITX?

how about Ryzen? i don't see any mini-ITX motherboards around.

my main aim is jus to play Path of Exile. (1 game)

sorry if i got some of my facts wrong. Thanks.

It ship with the latest bios already. Can support intel 7th series cpu now. Just built one for my client. Same Msi h110i and i5-7500.

Ryzen itx is coming soon if you can wait. If gaming is your only aim, then going Intel won't be wrong either. Whichever best suit your budget.

I don't think you should be too concerned about Kaby Lake support. I personally like Asrock and Gigabyte variants of their ITX boards.

I usually just whack the gamer series one since I'm usually quite ok with higher end components. :s13: I don't have any recommendation but you can always look at the features of their lower end boards and see which one fits you. Have you consider just getting a simple mATX setup? Would it be cheaper than an ITX one?

no. :(

already gotten Fractal Design Node 202. :o
coz i wanna keep my tower footprint as small as possible :o

i see H110 is the most basic while the rest B150, H170, Z170 get faster PCI-e speed and more RAM slot and OC which are useless for me.
the 200 series are newer with a bit here and there more speed.

thats why i am targeting H110. the next step would be B150 & H170

the rest is here nor there one. M.2 only for wifi. no PCI-e x16 expansion slot :s22:

I'm intending to get from Amazon as well because I still got $50 USD giftcard in the account.

Looking at Asus ROG Strix Z270i and ASRock Z270i Gaming ITX/ac.

My Old MB is ASRock Z170i Gaming ITX/ac, bought locally and DOA.
The shop help me RMA and it lasted me 21 months.

Supposed to RMA but I accidentally dented the pin while troubleshooting :(

If you have to get from Amazon, EVGA Z270i Stinger is reasonably priced (international warranty claims routed to Taiwan). Z270I strix (pro gaming rebranded) is just a mid tier ITX board as well.

But can buy EVGA extended warranty still quite affordable (like 10USD to 5 years for <$200 MSRP stuff).

Hi,

i am looking at the photo, i notice you are using NZXT high flow fan. what is your take on static pressure fan?

i am planning to get 2x Venturi HP-12 PWM. (28SGD EA)
1) any comments or recommendations?
2) i supposed PWM is useless since the fans are mainly meant for the graphics card so no need to buy a 4-pin extension to connect them to the motherboard's 4 pin sys fan. right?

Airflow or static pressure also okay. Tested and see no difference. Without fan and with fan got difference. Main thing is to keep the air getting pushed out and feed fresh air into the gpu fan.

Pwm or not up to you. Pwn can control speed so you can suppress sound. If your gpu like the Asus Strix got the fan header also good. Control by the gpu temps instead of cpu. Either way you need extention or splitter as itx board normally only have 1 cha_fan header.

I setup everything le.
The cpu light up so does that mean my mobo bios version doesn't support kaby lake? Means I have to tear everything down and pull out the motherboard and cpu? :/
