Also looking for a better cooler fan as well.

It's 1 to 2mm from the mesh correct? Why is this a problem? Your CPU is getting nearly direct cool air from outside the case.

i have itchy fingers kids at home. So they will tend to "poke" around. So i prefer for the Cooler Fan to be away from the mesh.

Can consider covering the mesh with pantyhose or similar net material. This will have the effect of shrouding the insides and providing additional dust filter.
