Hi all

Want to get some quick opinions and make use of today to see any monitor deals.

Monitor is at least 4 years old. Exhibited the following symptoms while I was watching YouTube. Thanks in advance if you guys can help to pinpoint any possible issues

Watching YouTube and screen faded to black
Restarted computer screen still black
Pressed menu button of monitor but it doesn't display
Sound still continue playing
Realized that even screen don't show anything, the screen black when computer is on compared to computer is off is different.
Restarted all power points and things worked normally again.

Next day use computer normally screen faded to black again, sound continue playing

Use a strong torchlight shine on screen when turn black, if can see a bit of color means backlight spoil

I think may not be the hardware issue. Check out the browser, YouTube etc.
Eg. Browser updates, browser settings, YouTube settings, browser plugins, cookies, extensions.
Whether the extensions require updated versions. Or an extension you are using is blocking/interfering the YouTube video download process.

If possible, connect monitor to a laptop & see if fade away still occurs?

Check whether is it a connector issue or connector is loose, worn out

Try to see if other sources like laptop or another CPU will produce the same issue

Hi all

Thanks for the help so far, unable to access this computer frequently.

I confirm is monitor issue now. Managed to restart the monitor after the fade out occurred again.

Next logical question is, what 24"-27" screen can I buy? (current U2311H)
I feel like getting a 27" 1440p screen, but not sure if justify the dell u2717d premium over the cheaper 27" cousin, same IPS screen but "not ultrasharp"

My current rig below (may overhaul within 6 months)
i5-4590 @3.30GHz
8gb ram
GTX 970

Thanks all for the help

All extensions should be updated.

One more description, usage of monitor more for work and gaming

Gaming will be mainly dota 2, and usually RPGish games. Very rarely FPS due to age, highest requirement for gaming so far is witcher 3.
