Motherboard keep rebooting

Hi,

I have just purchased a new rig.
Motherboard is Gigabyte h87n-wifi
CPU is i5-4440
PSU is Super Flower HX-500.

When I tried to test the motherboard breadboard with CPU(with Intel HSF) and 1x RAM, it kept rebooting after 1 sec. I plugged in 20pin + 4pin and CPU pin to the motherboard.

I tried few setup such as remove CPU, remove Ram. The mother board keep restarting itself without any beep.

I tried paper clip test on PSU and it works (Fan is running).

Does it mean my motherboard dead?

Did u put in the intel stock cooler?

Remove the plastic sheet from the CPU heatsink fan before mounting?

I am using Intel CPU cooler and there is no plastic sheet for CPU cooler. The fan will run but motherboard will restart itself.

Got to check. Whether have you plugged in the 12v cpu cable? 4pin or 8pin cable?

Got to check is your hdd connected? With both sata cable and sata power?

TS, restart w/o beep? You got connect a buzzer to motherboard near front panel pins?

If you try all above and still no go, bring rig to shop where you bought the cpu/mobo/ram for troubleshooting.

I had few months old seasonic PSU with fualty 4-pin power supply that caused constant rebooting. Always a good practice to ask for free power-up test before you pay for the system. Power-up test inclcudes motherboard, cpu, ram modules, gfx and psu. In this way, you can confirm the cpu model and total RAM size in BIOS display.

My motherboard accepts 1 4pin CPU connector. I had connected 24pin and 4pin only.
I didn't connect any harddisk. Before I took out CPU, the motherboard already kept rebooting.

I think I better go to CDL trading to test for the motherboard.

The bare minimum of booting to BIOS are motherboard, cpu, and RAM. Assuming you have onboard video. I have strong suspicion it's PSU problem. Do you have a spare PSU to try ? It might save you a trip. But I could be wrong. Just a hunch.

Caution: never power-on without heatsink especially AMD cpu.

I tried another psu on the motherboard and still failed to boot. Haiz jialat.

Always good to ask the shop to do a free POST when buy a new system.
