Not been trekking at Gongga, but I did trek in Yading Reserve in 2008. I don't think I could have managed by myself. At many points, there was nobody else as far as my eyes could see. Nobody knows if you are up there, and even if they do, there is no way to find you.

That was Siguniang in 2008. Different place. Maybe Mt Gongga is more developed and has more people. Besides, you appear to have more experience than me.

I have friend who been there. While he is more daring, he camp at ZiMei pass for one night, he told me if anything happen to me, no one will know. As it is totally deserted.

And it super cold at night.

The view there is super stunning. Much better than 雪龙雪山

玉龙雪山is so developed, there are regular tours going there from Singapore, consisting of senior citizens. Maybe you can go to Yading. It should be a lot more developed now, yet not as commercial as 玉龙雪山.

Now I aim zimei pass. But it a bit late to arrange now if I choose to go end of the year. It will be too cold.
