so i logged in NS.sg to see my MUP.

though the pay is paid direct to my employer, i see that there is 2 portions of the amount paid. SVC + MUP.

i know MUP is to be paid to my employer correct?
how bout SVC? is that for us?

would like to know more coz my mates told me that SVC pay should be for us while MUP is for my company.

in short, SVC is service pay = your rank pay as a NSmen

SVC + MUP = your monthly salary

since your company apply MUP for you, they will take the SVC and MUP on your behalf and pay it to you.

no matter what happens, you will not get more than your monthly salary unless it is below SVC

Whatever SAF pays you is what your company does not pay you. Simple as that.

What complicates matters is when SAF splits the amount into SVC and MUP. That's when some people get confused. If my company does not pay me $800 for e.g. my MUP should be $800.

But SAF splits it up so it says e.g. SVC $300 and MUP $500. At first glance its wrong because my company never pay me $800 so why is my MUP only $500? But when you add the SVC in, its correct 'cos total is $800.

SAF should just have one amount for MUP and not split it up. If its anything extra e.g. hazard pay, KAH allowance, that's fine but MUP should not be split up into SVC and MUP to avoid confusion.

cos its easier for them to manage as they have to pay the nsf svc pay as well. mup only comes in for nsmen.

but i get you, they could have hide all these mumbo jumbo by using a consistent term to indicate payment to people. but civil sector, dun expect too much initiative from them.
