Huh, I rather middle than poor. Poor in Singapore is tough, unless you can hide somewhere and no need see the world.

Worse is if got children and poor, and children go to school and see what their friends have.

There's no middle class in Singapore.

Only 'Sandwich' class. Little chance of climbing up the social ladder, but just a hair's breadth away from being poor.

Those already poor know they can't sink any lower, short of starving to death. Of course it feels bad when you have something now, but not have it the next moment. The really poor are just surviving. The only thing worse is sickness.
