You should research more about Project Work for private candidate (Can I take? How exactly will i be grouped if I can take it? If cannot will it affect my UAS for NTU/NUS/SMU?)

I would recommend to take H1 Econs, as it does not require any O level foundation.

As your O level foundation is almost non-existent, I would recommend you to study for E-Maths/Combined Physics and English for this year, and A-Maths/Pure Physics and English next year.

This preparation work is ESPECIALLY crucial if you didn't take pure physics or additional maths, as you would be slaughtered in H2 maths/physics with no maths/science foundation. I myself who did badly in A maths struggled in JC with my H2 maths ^.^

I heard that PW will soon be scrapped from the system.

Why must take the SEAB version? Its much harder leh.

Why not go to Informatics/MDIS and take the international/UK 'A' Level? The unis view them view them equally btw. Singapore just makes theirs tougher to prevent grade inflation. And under the UK system you only need 3 A-level subjects. And this might come as a surprise to you but many overseas unis dont recognise General Paper. Only local U's factor in GP. and if u're talking abt Engineering faculty, sometimes they overlook it altogether.. (if your other 3 grades are good enough to offset it lah).

local poly you can differ but not too sure about private diploma. likely, no. better to call cmpb and check.

it might actually be better to serve NS first. they says those who serve ns matured and then will strive harder for education. how truth, depends. also, after months of BMT and whatsnot, you might land yourself in a 8-5 posting and the superior might allow you to take up part time diploma...

Poly Dip or Pte Dip is the same.

As long as you study Nitec(Defer 1st time) & follow by Higher Nitec (Defer 2nd time), you cannot defer again due to age limit.

However if he is graduate Nitec or Higher Nitec(Defer 1st time) with good GPA to enter Poly, he can enter Poly cause he have not cross the age limit aka the 2nd deferment.

If you are looking to overseas uni, then i too would recommend the UK A levels instead. However, do note that local uni are very biased towards SEAB a-levels. The universities here are not stupid, they know that SEAB A-levels are much harder. I know of people who get rejected by all three uni when their UK A-levels are AAB. Even NUS acknowledges that most of their successful applicants apply with more than the required 3 subjects. So if you are looking to overseas, yes UK A-levels would be easier, but if you are thinking of going local, play safe and take the SEAB version. On top of that, if you are unable to take PW, I believe you can supplement that with another content H1 subject. I do know that madrasahs(Religious schools) here allow their students to take A-levels and since they are considered private, they do not take PW, instead, they take an additional content H1.

Well, you still need a contrasting humanities subject. I would recommend H1 Econs.

You should have GP, 3 H2, 1 H1, PW. The one H1 is usually a contrasting subject. So if you have 3 science subject, physics, maths, computing. Your H1 subject should be a contrast, econs or geog or history. Mainstream JC students are forced to do this so Im not sure if private candidates also have to follow.

The problem with Singaporeans is that they keep thinking getting a degree will make a difference. In the end, you will end up the same with a lot less money.

It seems that you have an interest in web development, so why do you choose maritime engineering / civil engineering? What particular aspect of it interests you? You do know that you are gonna be a bangala supervisor there you know?

Anyway, I would recommend you to be not so hung up on getting a degree. Why not work as a web developer and keep building your portfolio? As a programmer, experience and portfolio counts. Work on Rails and explore Node.js. There are tons of stuff to learn still.
